Sleep is absolutely necessary for us to live healthy balanced lives and thrive! Without proper rest the body cannot perform necessary functions such as metabolism, hormone production, muscular, and cellular regeneration properly. Mental function and capabilities are greatly diminished. The immune system can be compromised and irritability and depression are also common side effects of chronic lack of sleep also known as insomnia. Simple fact: we feel better and function better when we get enough sleep. Hypnotherapy is an extremely pleasant and effective type of therapy that works with the subconscious mind. The conscious mind is about 10% of our mental potential and it is what we use for motor skills, mental activity, reasoning and communication. It is like the surface layer of the mind. The subconscious mind is 90% of our mental potential. It works like a giant recorder that records everything from the womb until death and beyond. It records our whole lives; every thought, feeling, memory, sensation, smell; everything. It does not judge at all, so it stores all positive and pleasant experiences as well as negative or unpleasant experiences, thoughts or feelings. The negative thoughts or feelings can create blocks that can create pressure on the conscious mind. This pressure can be experienced in a number of ways as insomnia, anxiety, depression, craving, alcohol or substance abuse ,self-esteem issues, fear, etc. It can control our behaviors and how we experience and create our life. By working with the subconscious mind directly the block is removed and in turn the pressure it manifested as insomnia. A skilled hypnotherapist will also remove the fear of not being able to fall asleep which can perpetuate the cycle and replace them with positive behavior changes to ease one into sleep.
